Alexis Sanchez will take steps to force a move away from Arsenal this week, with an official transfer request being considered, according to reports.

It comes with the Chilean due to return to training with the Gunners.

Following an extended holiday due to his Confederations Cup involvement he was supposed to report in today. However his return has been delayed after he came down with a bout of flu.

Manchester City have been persistently linked with a move for the Arsenal player and it’s understood Sanchez is keen on linking up with Pep Guardiola, who signed him before when at Barcelona.

Arsene Wenger has persistently said that Sanchez will remain at the Emirates, despite the club’s top scorer from last season having just 12 months remaining on his contract.

The Mirror report that Sanchez is ready to challenge the Arsenal manager by informing Wenger that he wants to join Manchester City.

It’s claimed that he is prepared to make an official request to leave if Wenger denies him his wish, possibly as soon as this week.

Arsenal had been hoping they could convince Sanchez to sign a new contract at the Emirates, with an offer of around £300,000-a-week reportedly on the table.
