Chelsea are ready to try and prise highly rated teenager Karamoko Dembele away from Celtic this summer, according to reports in Scotland.

The 14-year-old, who has been likened to a Scottish Lionel Messi, is one of the most exciting young talents in British football and has been electric at youth level.

At the age of just 13 he was already playing for Celtic’s Under-20 side, and according to The Scottish Sun, Chelsea have already triggered their move to snap up the tiny winger.

Antonio Conte has already snapped up 16-year-old Billy Gilmour from Rangers and wants to raid the Old Firm for another prodigious talent.

Dembele is eligible for both England and Scotland, but turned out for the latter against the Three Lions in a 2-0 win on Friday.

That was during an Under-16s international tournament that the Scots emerged victorious in, beating Uruguay 2-0 at Oriam a day later.

Having put Qatar to the sword earlier, Dembele scored a penalty in the final against Uruguay to wrap up the victory.

Dembele only signed a new deal with Celtic in June as the Scottish champions looked to secure the long-term future of one of the most talented players to come through their academy.

Speaking about the deal, Dembele said at the time: ‘I’m delighted to have signed at such a wonderful club and I think this is the right place for me to fulfil my potential and achievements.’

That has not put Chelsea off, however, with the club eager to try and bolster their already illustrious academy with a future gem of European football.
