Arsenal fans were begging their club to resolve Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract dispute after his display against Sevilla on Sunday.

The Gunners lost 2-1 to their Spanish opponents, but The Ox’s performance was hugely encouraging.

Starting the game as a left wing-back he switched to the right in the second half.

It was on his preferred side that his powerful, pacey run created space from where he delivered the cross for Alexandre Lacazzette to score Arsenal’s only goal.

That run was a number of exciting bursts that troubled Sevilla and gave Arsenal fans something to get excited about during a generally dreary match.

His performance was enough for fans to demand Arsenal sort Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract situation.

The England international has just one year remaining on his current deal, after which he will be allowed to leave for free.

He’s been linked with a number of other clubs this summer, most notably Liverpool and Chelsea.

Arsenal’s pre-season continues next weekend with a Community Shield meeting with Chelsea at Wembley. They then start their Premier League campaign at home to Leicester on Friday 11 August.
