Serge Aurier will not be joining Manchester United according to reports, despite claims last night that he was nearing a move to Old Trafford.

It was suggested that Aurier had emerged as a £27million target for Manchester United.

According to the Mirror a £90,000-a-week deal had been lined up for the Ivory Coast right-back.

It came with PSG looking to offload some players to make space – and money – available for the incoming Neymar and Aurier being identified as one who can go.

With Jose Mourinho looking to further bolster his squad before the season begins, Manchester United were said to be among those interested in defender who can play anywhere across the backliner.

Yet the Red Devils have apparently poured scorn on the idea, with Sky Sports claiming they have been informed by sources at the club that there is no interest.

Mourinho has let it be publicly known that he is seeking four recruits this summer. In defender Victor Lindelof, defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic and striker Romelu Lukaku he has three of those.

It’s understood he wants a wide player with Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic the top target, however securing the Croatian’s signature is proving difficult.

Any move for Aurier, who is international team-mates with Eric Bailly, would be complicated in any case by his ban from the UK.

Found guilty of assaulting a police officer outside a Paris nighclub last year, he was denied entry to the UK for a Champions League game against Arsenal in October after seeing a visa revoked.

The 24-year-old has since lodged an appeal against his conviction to the courts, which is due to be heard next week.
