Griezmann took a snap with Sturridge (Picture: Twitter)

A section of Manchester United fans were unhappy with Antoine Griezmann for holding up a Liverpool shirt after Atletico Madrid’s Audi Cup win over Liverpool on penalties on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils came agonisingly close to signing the France international early in the summer but missed out on his signature as he opted to stay in La Liga.

However, Jose Mourinho is expected to return for the 26-year-old next summer as United look to complete their long-term pursuit of that attacker.

But the club’s fans were unimpressed with Griezmann’s latest Twitter activity as he uploaded a photograph of him holding up a shirt of bitter rivals Liverpool.

Griezmann had swapped shirts with Reds striker Daniel Sturridge after the match and tweeted a picture of the pair.

Along with the snap, he wrote: ‘Thank you @DanielSturridge.’

Needless to say, United fans raged at him holding up the jersey.
