Gareth Bale insists he isn’t distracted by ongoing speculation he is being forced out of Real Madrid and is set to make a move to Manchester United.

The former Tottenham star was pushed down the pecking order at the Bernabeu towards the end of last season due to injury and the stellar form of Isco.

Bale was forced to watch the majority of last season’s Champions League final in his hometown of Cardiff from the substitutes’ bench and the build-up to Tuesday’s Super Cup against Manchester United was dominated by speculation he could yet make a move to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.

‘I’m just concentrating on my football and not listening to anything in the newspapers,’ he told BT Sport. ‘I get told bits and bobs.

‘I’m just enjoying my football, I want to play as much as I can and continue to win trophies.’

Bale started Tuesday’s showdown between the Champions League holders and the Europa League winners with Cristiano Ronaldo still feeling his way back to full fitness having been given an extended break following his exploits at this summer’s Confederations Cup.

Reports claim Real Madrid maintain a strong interest in Monaco’s teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe and should Zinedine Zidane be successful in landing the 18-year-old striker, Bale could find himself surplus to requirements.

‘No, not that i know of,’ added Bale when asked if he knew of any recent developments in regards to his situation.

‘I haven’t’ had any of those conversations. I’m  just trying to get my fitness up as I’ve not been playing fully for the last eight or nine months.’
