Real Madrid could hand Manchester United a boost in their transfer pursuit of Gareth Bale as they eye Juventus forward Paulo Dybala as a potential replacement in attack.

The 23-year-old is one of the most highly regarded young attacking players in Europe at the moment and has been linked with a host of top clubs throughout this transfer window.

Barcelona had looked at the Argentine as a possible replacement for Neymar after his move to Paris Saint-Germain, but it now looks like Real believe they could beat their rivals to his signature.

Juve are said to hold an interest in Mateo Kovacic, who has failed to establish himself as a regular for Madrid, and club president Florentino Perez hopes a swap deal could be agreed.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Real could offer as much as £77million along with the Croatian midfielder in order to land Dybala to provide a possible replacement for Gareth Bale.

The Wales international is on Manchester United’s radar at the moment and is thought to be seen as a player who’d be the first to make way if any other additions were made to the club’s attack this summer.

Jose Mourinho on possible Gareth Bale transfer

‘If he is not in the club’s plans, that with the arrival of another player would mean he was on his way out, I will try to be waiting for him on the other side and fight with other coaches that would want him on their team.’

Bale hasn’t hit his best form since moving to the Bernabeu and struggled with injuries last season, and Dybala could be seen as an ideal upgrade in that department.

This speculation follows reports that Real have cooled their interest in Monaco front-man Kylian Mbappe, who is now said to be being lined up as another major buy by PSG this summer.

Dybala has 42 goals in 94 appearances for Juventus, helping them to two Serie A titles and last season’s Champions League final during his time with the club.
