AC Milan have confirmed they hope to bring in one of three impressive strikers this summer and are working carefully on securing a deal.

The free-spending Italian side have already forked out a huge amount of money in the current transfer window, but Milan aim to top it all off with a marquee frontman addition.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Chelsea star Diego Costa and Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic make up the three-man shortlist, according to sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli.

And the Milan boss has promised the fans the club will not ‘mess’ up in their pursuit of a goalscorer.

‘Aubameyang would be fate: he was the first player I went to see live, my first [scouting] trip was for him,’ Mirabelli told QS.

‘A new striker? We’re working on it and we can’t mess it up: Kalinic and Diego Costa are also on our list.

‘Guarantees? Are [people] aware of what’s been said? If you sign Bonucci and Biglia, you know what you’re doing.

‘The turning point of the summer was Donnarumma [signing a new contract], a conquest on which to build everything else.’

Aubameyang has been linked with a host of clubs this summer including Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, but the Borussia Dortmund looks almost certain to stay in Germany.

No club has been prepared to pay Aubameyang’s wage demands and the Gabon international’s most likely destination seems to be China, if he does move at all.

Chelsea attacker Costa has been banished from the club by Antonio Conte after a very public fall-out with his manager.

Conte told Costa via text that he was no longer part of his plans which prompted the Spain interntional to undergo his pre-season preparation away from Cobham.

Kalinic would be the least appealing of the trio for Milan fans despite scoring 20 goals in all competitions for his side last season.
