Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has hinted he’s ready to pick Alvaro Morata from the start against Burnley on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues kick-off their Premier League defence against the Clarets and will be keen to put a difficult pre-season behind them.

The Italian’s side won just one of their four friendlies and Conte’s been unhappy with the club’s business in the transfer window.

Morata, 24, arrived from Real Madrid in a £70million deal but the Spaniard was benched for Chelsea’s defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield.

Michy Batshuayi was given the nod ahead of Morata but Conte has hinted the Spain international could start on Saturday after showing a greater ‘understanding’ with his team-mates in training this week.

‘Alvaro is a really good player, he’s still young despite having a lot of experience,’ said Conte.

‘He needs to play regularly, he’s a player I trust a lot. I think he has good prospects for Chelsea – for now and the future.

‘Will he start this weekend? He’s working very well and starting to understand or idea of football.’
