Manchester United are expected to announce the season-long loan of Timothy Fosu-Mensah to Crystal Palace any moment after the youngster was pictured in training with the Eagles.

Although the Dutch utility man is highly rated by Jose Mourinho, he has been allowed to move to Selhurst Park in a bid to get more regular pitch time and Premier League exposure.

Although there has been no official announcement, the 19-year-old was seen chatting to fellow loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek as they took part in drills on Wednesday.

New Palace boss Ronald De Boer admitted that a move was likely on Tuesday, saying: ‘There is truth in the reports, yes. We think he will train with us tomorrow. It’s a season-long loan.’

Fosu-Mensah came through the academy at Ajax while De Boer was still in charge and understands his philosophy well, though was poached by United.

Speaking prior to the move, Fosu-Mensah told reporters: ‘It’s fine because you’re surrounded by great players [at Manchester United].

‘Every day, in and out, you train with great players. You develop every day with these great players.

‘I just want to develop, keep developing. I am young so I try to work on my weaker stuff and to become a better and complete player.

‘I need a bit of experience, things like concentration, touches, communicating on the pitch.’

Fosu-Mensah impressed when used at the tail-end of the 2015-16 season under Louis van Gaal, though was given precious few opportunities to impress under Mourinho, partly due to injury.
