Arsenal are reportedly concerned once again over the future of Alexis Sanchez as they think he could be using his current injury status to try once more for a transfer before the end of the summer.

The Chile international is expected to sit out the Gunners’ first two games of the season against Leicester City and Stoke, despite scans on his ‘abdominal strain’ not showing anything too serious.

Key figures behind the scenes at Arsenal are now said to be worried that Sanchez’s absence from the team could be used as another opportunity for him to get his desired move away from the Emirates Stadium, according to the Daily Mirror.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have been strongly linked with the 28-year-old for much of this summer, though Arsenal have repeatedly insisted he is not for sale.

Arsene Wenger has refused to buckle on this issue and was reported this week as going against his club’s board in order to keep Sanchez at the club even if it means risking losing him on a free in a year’s time.

Various reports have also claimed Sanchez is now ready to accept that his future remains in north London for the time being, though he is not expected to sign a new contract.

The former Barcelona man’s preference is said to have been to link up with his old manager Pep Guardiola at City, though Arsenal have been particularly keen to avoid losing him to a Premier League rival.

It remains to be seen if there is much in Sanchez’s power to realistically force a move so late in the transfer window with clubs unlikely to meet the Gunners’ lofty demands for a player in the final year of his contract.
