Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has aimed a dig at Antonio Conte over the size of Chelsea’s squad.

Ahead of the new season there are concerns at Stamford Bridge at the lack of options available to their manager, particularly with Champions League football back on the agenda.

During last weekend’s Community Shield clash Chelsea legend Frank Lampard highlighted the difference between the size of his old club’s squad and that of Arsenal’s. On the matchday programme Chelsea listed just 24 players for the curtain raiser while Arsenal had 41.

But the Blues are getting no sympathy from Wenger, with the Arsenal manager highlighting how many Chelsea players have been allowed to go out on loan.

‘I have sympathy for him. But do I feel sorry for Chelsea as they don’t have enough problems? Then no,’ said Wenger.

‘Maybe he has the opposite problem [to me]. But if you look at the number of players on loan, they can call a few back.’

Among those that have been sent out on loan this season are Tammy Abraham, Lewis Baker, Tomas Kalas, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Loic Remy, Marco van Ginkel and Kurt Zouma.

Arsenal find themselves with the opposite problem, with the Gunners needing to shed themselves of some players.
