Arsenal new-boy Alexandre Lacazette has joined an elite club by becoming just the 5th player to score on their Premier League debut for the Gunners under Arsene Wenger.

The France international joined in a club-record £52million transfer from Lyon this summer, and has made an immediate impact by heading in an early goal against Leicester City.

Lacazette showed the finishing instincts that made him a hit in Ligue 1 with a smart header from Mohamed Elneny’s cross, making it 1-0 inside the first two minutes.

While his £52m fee has been dwarfed by some of the others we’ve seen this summer, Arsenal will still be glad to see that investment being repaid so quickly.

Emmanuel Adebayor vs Birmingham City (2005/06)

Samir Nasri vs West Brom (2008/09)

Thomas Vermaelen vs Everton (2009/10)

Alexandre Lacazette vs Leicester (2017/18)

With what will surely be the first of many Lacazette has already got his first Arsenal goal in his first Premier League outing, joining Freddie Ljungberg, Emmanuel Adebayor, Samir Nasri and Thomas Vermaelen in doing so in the Wenger era.

Lacazette’s opener was immediately cancelled out by Shinji Okazaki for the Leicester, netting after some poor defending and goalkeeping at the back.

Arsenal have won their last three home matches against the Foxes and could certainly do with Lacazette adding a couple more this evening.
