Manchester United fans are convinced Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to re-join their club after tweeting just hours after Jose Mourinho confirmed talks are underway regarding a new deal for the veteran striker.

The 35-year-old is currently a free agent after he was let go by United having seen his debut season with the Premier League giants cut short due to the serious knee injury from which he is still recovering.

The likes of AC Milan and LA Galaxy have been mentioned as potential destinations for Ibrahimovic once he regains full fitness, but Mourinho admitted on Friday that he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of the former Sweden international returning to Old Trafford in January to bolster his options.

‘You know he’s injured, he needs time to recover, he’s not ready to play tomorrow,’ said Mourinho.

‘It’s not something urgent, that we are desperate to have it done or not done, I just think that he was very clear by showing what he did last year was not enough for him.

‘He thinks he can do more and wants more at the highest level so we are having conversatins and we are discussing the possibility of him to stay with us for the second part of the season.’

Soon after, Ibrahimovic took to Twitter to post a picture of him in Untied kit, wearing the Europa League winners’ medal he earned last season, his 33rd career title and it was enough for some supporters to be persuaded that the second coming is not too far away…
