Ex-Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand believes his former club will win the Premier League next season because of the ‘Jose Mourinho factor’.

The Red Devils have spent £145million so far this summer on Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic.

Manchester City have spent closer to £200m on six players, while champions Chelsea have spent big on Antonio Rudiger, Alvaro Morata and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Ferdinand, though, believes United have had the best window and will come out on top next season with Liverpool and Tottenham missing out on the top four.

‘I’m going for 1. Manchester United,’ wrote Ferdinand on Instagram.

‘[The] Mourinho factor…bought proven in Lukaku and Matic.

‘2. Manchester City. Attacking line is naughty.

‘3. Chelsea. Not enough depth to win it with the UEFA Champions League as well this season.

‘4. Arsenal. Don’t often miss out and Wenger will succeed in top four. Sorry Spurs fans seems some unhappiness in the camp right now and being at Wembley will be tough.

With Lukaku now at Old Trafford, the race for the golden boot should be extra interesting this season.

And Ferdinand is predicting a tie between the Belgian and Tottenham superstar Harry Kane.

‘Golden Boot – Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku. 25 goals each,’ said Ferdinand.
