Luke Shaw’s agent insists his client will not leave Manchester United this summer because they club ‘love him’.

The England international struggled under Jose Mourinho last season and played just once between November and March, despite being fit.

The 22-year-old has only recently returned to first-team training following a period on the sidelines with an ankle injury and is not expected to be fit until September.

Mourinho is believed to be keen on signing Tottenham defender Danny Rose and reports this week have linked United with a swap deal involving Shaw moving to north London.

However, Shaw’s agent has blasted the reports and says the defender will stay at Old Trafford to become one of the ‘best left-backs in the world’.

‘Luke Shaw is going to be one of the best left-backs in the world,’ Jonathan Barnett told IBTimes.

‘Manchester United love him and Luke Shaw loves Manchester United.’

United have spent £145million this summer on Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic but Mourinho remains keen to strengthen his squad.

Rose put United on alert earlier this week when he criticised Tottenham for their low wage policy and admitted he wanted to play up north.
