Arsenal are struggling to meet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s wage demands as the winger reportedly wants £150,000 a week to stay at the Emirates.

London rivals Chelsea have entered into talks with Arsenal over a £35million transfer for Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Despite Chelsea’s strides towards securing a deal, Arsenal are still desperate for Oxlade-Chamberlain to remain at the club with Liverpool also interested.

However, Goal claim the Gunners have been stunned by Oxlade-Chamberlain’s salary demands and are not prepared to sanction a new £150,000-a-week contract.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is in the final year of his current deal and the 24-year-old shows no signs of backing down.

The wage stand-off has given Chelsea an edge in the situation as the Blues are prepared to double Oxlade-Chamberlain’s salary and give in to his requests.

Chelsea are working hard to bring new faces into Stamford Bridge after the embarrassing opening day defeat to Burnley.

Oxlade-Chamberlain currently earns around £65,000 a week at the Emirates and would dramatically improve on that figure at Chelsea.

The England international would be the first Arsenal player since Ashley Cole in 2006 to swap the Emirates for Stamford Bridge.

Cole is universally hated by Arsenal fans, but enjoyed a trophy laden career at Chelsea, winning the Premier League once, four FA Cups and collecting a Champions League medal.
