Manchester United youngster Demetri Mitchell sent Jose Mourinho a timely reminder of his quality with a brilliant free-kick for the side’s U23s on Monday night.

The full-back made his full debut for the club against Crystal Palace at the end of last season and was taken on United’s tour to the United States after impressing in training.

However, the Manchester-born defender was left out of United’s 18-man squad for United’s 4-0 win against West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Mitchell, though, responded in perfect fashion by scoring a stunning free-kick in United’s U23s win against Leicester.

In a strike that has drawn parallels with Gareth Bale, Mitchell hit a powerful effort with his left-foot into the top corner.

Mourinho is known to be keen on signing a left-back and the club have considered a move for Tottenham ace Danny Rose.

However, with Luke Shaw nearing match fitness again and Mitchell in reserves, Mourinho might just have a rethink.
