Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic – but the Italian is struggling to convince his board to move for the Manchester United target.

The Croatian has been heavily linked with Manchester United throughout the summer but the Red Devils are unwilling to meet Inter’s £50million valuation of the winger.

Conte is far from pleased with Chelsea’s transfer business this summer and wants to make at least three more signings following the arrivals of Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger.

The Italian’s been angered by his board’s dithering over moves for Alex Sandro and Virgil van Dijk. Both players are 26 and Chelsea’s board want to sign players that have good resale values. All three of their signings so far this summer are 24 or under.

Perisic, 28, would have very little resale value after a £50m move to west London but Conte wants to sign the winger to strengthen his squad in wide areas, according to the Times.

Conte has identified the likes of Fernando Llorente and Ivan Candreva this summer but he’s also struggled to make a case for the pair.

Chelsea have lost the likes of Nemanja Matic and John Terrry this summer and Conte wants to add some experience to his squad and is battling with his board over targets.

However, his interest in Perisic encapsulates the stand-off that’s currently ongoing between Conte and the board.
