Reiss Nelson’s meteoric rise at Arsenal has been one of the surprises of the summer in north London and it’s clear the youngster has ambitions of becoming a star at the Emirates.

The 17-year-old attacker was a shock inclusion in Arsene Wenger’s pre-season squad and impressed against the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Benfica in the lead-up to the Gunners’ 2017/18 campaign.

Despite Nelson’s scintillating displays, however, the teenage sensation is not yet in Arsenal’s first-team squad but showed Wenger exactly what he is missing with a barnstorming performance for the Under-23 side versus Derby County earlier this week.

He was undoubtedly the star of the show as Arsenal stormed to a 3-2 victory on Monday evening, scoring two goals St George’s Park.

Nelson wore the No. 2 shirt in the win over Derby, but admitted on Instagram that he would prefer 10 on his back after the match.

For now, though, Nelson must wait, with Wenger confirming: ‘I plan for him [Wilshere] to be here for the whole season. After, we’ll see at the end of the season.’

Wilshere also played in the U23 clash and managed 74 minutes against Darren Wassall’s men.
