Besiktas officials are currently in London as they attempt to broker a deal that would see Arsenal give up the 30% sell-on clause in Oguzhan Ozyakup’s current contract, according to reports.

The former Arsenal academy graduate has been linked with a return to the Premier League this summer, with West Ham mentioned as a potential destination.

Ozyakup, who made just two first team appearances for the Gunners, has established himself as one of Turkey’s finest midfielders and captained Besiktas to consecutive league titles.

Besiktas are keen to tie the 24-year-old to a new long-term deal and are said have offered Arsenal  €1million to remove the clause from any potential new contract.

The Turkish champions are thought to be close to agreeing a new five-year extension, but Sabah claim Besiktas president Fikret Orman is keen on maximising any potential future sale.

Ozyakup joined Besiktas four years ago in a deal worth £500,000.

Speaking of his plans for the remainder of the window on Wednesday, Wenger admitted trimming his bloated squad was likely to be his priority, rather than adding to the two signings he has already made this summer.

‘Getting players out keeps you as busy as getting people in, so I think I will be busy,’ he said.

Speaking specifically about Lucas Perez, who is set to leave the club despite having only been given limited opportunities to shine a year on from his £17million move from Deportivo, Wenger added: ‘There is a possibility (he could go). I opened the door for him because we have many strikers.

‘If he finds a good opportunity we will help him.’
