Alexis Sanchez is set to make his first start for Arsenal this season this weekend, Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

The Chile international was given an extended holiday due to his Confederations Cup involvement and then sustained an injury upon his return to London.

However he has now fully recovered and is available for selection when the Gunners travel to Anfield to play Liverpool on Sunday.

‘Sanchez has worked very hard to be back again and is available again,’ said Wenger this morning.

‘He works very hard in training. He gives everything. It’s always difficult to stop him. He looks ready.’

Wenger hinted that Sanchez may not play the entire match considering his lack of action recently.

‘He has not played for a long time so I will have to decide what I do with him abut he is ready to play.’
