Manchester City will test Arsenal’s resolve to keep Alexis Sanchez this week by submitting a £50million bid for the forward.

Arsene Wenger has maintained throughout the summer that the Chile international will not be allowed to leave the club, not least to a Premier League rival.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has informed the Gunners that he has no plans to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of the Chilean and still believes his side need more firepower, despite spending £215million this summer.

Sanchez is believed to be receptive about a move to the Etihad and the Times claim City will submit a £50m bid this week.

It would be a huge gamble for Wenger to allow Sanchez to leave at this late stage and Arsenal are unlikely to find a replacement in the remainder of the window.
