Arsenal are plotting a stunning £75million bid for Real Madrid ace Marco Asensio as Arsene Wenger looks to push through some new signings ahead of the transfer window deadline.
The Gunners are willing to trigger the 20-year-old’s release clause and sign him before the summer spending sprees come to an end on Thursday for clubs around the world.
Asensio is locked in contract talks with the Spanish giants but is concerned about his playing time at the Santiago Bernabeu in the coming season.
Despite scoring stunning goals in both legs of the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona – as well as striking in the Champions League final against Juventus – it is likely the Spaniard will find himself behind Cristiano Ronaldo this campaign.
And Arsenal are hoping to capitalise on his fears over playing time, according to the Express.
Asensio has already turned down a move to Paris Saint-Germain and Madrid are looking to tie him down to a mega money deal, which would see his release clause rise to £310m.
But with game minutes mattering most to the youngster, Wenger may well succeed in luring him away.
