Tottenham are in pole position to sign Serge Aurier but the defender would prefer a move to Manchester United, according to reports in France.

Aurier has made 81 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain since his debut for the Ligue 1 giants back in 2014 but the 24-year-old is yet to play this season and was not included on the side’s pre-season tour.

The arrivals of Thomas Meunier and Dani Alves at the Parc des Princes have seen Aurier drop down the pecking order at right-back and a Premier League switch looks likely.

SFR Sport suggest that Spurs have made the highest offer for Aurier but the Ivory Coast international would jump at the chance to move to Old Trafford.

It’s claimed Paul Pogba urged United to make enquiries earlier this summer but the Red Devils are set to fail in their pursuit of the full-back.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is close with Pini Zahavi – the football agent heavily involved in Neymar’s move – and has acted as the intermediary in PSG’s transfer dealings this summer.

It’s understood Zahavi will share £35million of the fee paid for Neymar with the Brazilian’s father following the world-record move.
