Alexis Sanchez has dropped subtle hint on Instagram that his future may lie away from Arsenal as Manchester City prepare a last-ditch attempt to sign the Chilean on deadline day.

City’s £50 million offer for the 28-year-old was rejected earlier this week but Pep Guardiola’s side are reportedly willing to return with a £70m bid.

City have also sent members of their medical team and legal department to Chile in order to complete the deal for Sanchez, providing they manage to agree a fee with Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has remained adamant that Sanchez would not be sold this summer, but the forward has already admitted that he is keen to leave in order to play for a club in the Champions League.

And Sanchez has reinforced his desire to quit by liking an image on Instagram which has his face edited onto the infamous photo of Neymar and Gerard Pique, which was taken shortly before the Brazilian’s world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain.

During the uncertainty surrounding Neymar’s future, Pique gave major hope to Barcelona fans by posing alongside the forward with the caption ‘he stays’.

But Neymar, who was angry with Pique’s decision to post the photo with the accompanying caption, ended up making the move to PSG for £200m.

‘I told him not to do it as I hadn’t made my decision yet, but it was just a joke,’ said the Brazilian.

‘He expressed his feelings and I respect that.’

Arsenal, meanwhile, are reportedly willing to sell Sanchez but only if they manage to sign PSG’s Julian Draxler as a replacement.
