Thomas Lemar showed Arsenal fans what they’re missing with a sublime goal for France against the Netherlands tonight – with Arsene Wenger in attendance at the Stade de France.

The Monaco winger was the subject of a £92million deadline day bid from the Gunners, who have been chasing him all summer after his dazzling form in Ligue 1 last season.

Liverpool and Barcelona have also been linked with the talented 21-year-old, who added a few more millions to his price tag tonight with a cracking volley in their World Cup qualifying win.

Up against a strong Dutch side, Lemar scored twice on the night in an emphatic 4-0 victory, with his first strike a beauty from outside the box.

Arsenal could have done with that kind of talent in their ranks after a poor start to the season, though on the bright side, their failure to bring Lemar in looks to have killed any prospect of Alexis Sanchez being sold to Manchester City.

Still, it looks like being a disappointing summer for Arsenal, with just two signings made in Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac.

Wenger’s side have just one win and two defeats from their opening three Premier League games, and don’t look significant improved on the squad that finished fifth in the Premier League last season.

And despite Arsenal’s bid today being accepted by Monaco, it is thought that the player himself favoured a move to Liverpool instead.
