Liverpool have agreed a £40million deal with Arsenal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the England star is set to be unveiled before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Antonio Conte was desperate to bring Oxlade-Chamberlain to Chelsea – and the Premier League giants even bid for the 24-year-old – but he has decided on Anfield, where he hopes to play in central midfield under Jurgen Klopp.

It’s understood the former Southampton man underwent a medical at England’s St George’s Park training base on Wednesday night and mocked-up photographs began doing the rounds on social media.

And ahead of the unveiling, Lucas Leiva may have given the game away, dropping a massive hint that Oxlade-Chamberlain will don the No. 21 shirt on Merseyside.

Leiva, who wore 21 from when he signed in 2007 until he left for Lazio this summer, responded to an Instagram picture, appearing to congratulate Liverpool’s imminent signing on taking over his number.

Oxlade-Chamberlain wore the No. 15 shirt during his six-season spell in north London so will be hoping for a fresh start at Anfield.

It’s believed Liverpool remain interested in signing Monaco star Thomas Lemar as well as Oxlade-Chamberlain so it could be a busy day for the Reds.
