Tottenham are closing in on a season-long loan deal for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to reports.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have left the bulk of their transfer business until the last minute but have completed deals for Davinson Sanchez and Serge Aurier in the last few days.

Gomes, a £37million signing from Valencia, has failed to impress at the Camp Nou and is surplus to requirements in Barcelona.

Pochettino is an admirer of the Portugal international and the Telegraph claim Spurs are closing in on a loan move for Gomes.

Barcelona are believed to have offered the midfielder to a number of Premier League clubs and West Ham are also interested.

However, Gomes would favour a move to north London and Gomes could sign on the dotted line tonight.

Pochettino remains hopeful of sealing deals for Ross Barkley and Fernando Llorente in the dying hours of the window but rivals Chelsea are interest in both players.
