Manchester City are angry with Arsenal after they pulled the plug on Alexis Sanchez’s deadline day transfer, while reports claim that the Chilean had even signed a contract with Pep Guardiola’s side.

On Thursday morning, Arsenal’s chief executive Ivan Gazidis indicated to City that their £60 million offer was acceptable on the condition that a replacement for Sanchez was signed.

A £92m bid for Thomas Lemar was submitted and accepted by Monaco but the 21-year-old rejected the chance to join Arsene Wenger’s side.

Arsenal subsequently denied Sanchez his move to City, which has left Guardiola without one of his priority targets.

According to The Daily Mail, one source at City described Arsenal’s transfer planning as ‘shambolic’.

Sanchez, meanwhile, was waiting at Chile’s training base to complete the move having already informed his teammates that he would be joining City.

Goal report that Sanchez even went as far as signing the contract which had been offered by City.

Guardiola’s side are now expected to go back in for Sanchez next summer as the 28-year-old would be available on a free transfer, providing that he doesn’t extend his contract with Arsenal.
