Adam Lallana has made the surprise claim that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain impressed him in the recent game between Liverpool and Arsenal, which the Reds won 4-0.

The £40million summer signing was still with the Gunners that day, and was one of many to be given a torrid time by Liverpool’s attackers as they strolled to a comfortable victory.

Still, Lallana claims he saw glimpses from Oxlade-Chamberlain that day that persuaded him he could suit the Reds’ style and offer something to their squad.

Discussing the 24-year-old’s move to Anfield, Lallana also expressed his belief that he can improve even further after making the move to Anfield.

‘He’s a great lad and I’m really looking forward to working with him,’ Lallana said.

‘Even watching him against us in the 4-0 win, part of me was thinking his attributes would be great in our team.

‘I think it’s a great signing. Just as much as it’s good for us, I think it will be good for him as well.

‘Coming to Liverpool to play with the group of lads we’ve got, and the manager we’ve got, will enhance his game.

‘I just think the way the team plays suits him, with his power and his speed, combined with the ability he has got.’

Oxlade-Chamberlain could have the chance to make his Liverpool debut against Manchester City this weekend, following his £40m deadline day move to Merseyside.
