Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain claims he never considered joining any club other than Liverpool once he had made the decision to leave Arsenal.

The 24-year-old completed his move to Anfield on deadline day in a £35million move, less than a week after Arsene Wenger had reportedly accepted a similar offer from the Premier League champions.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, however, believes Jurgen Klopp’s side will offer him the perfect platform to realise the potential he has showcased only sporadically during an injury-interrupted six year stint in north London.

‘The first thing was the tough decision to leave Arsenal,’ he told Sky Sports.

Wenger on selling The Ox

‘We wish him well, and we wish him all the best and we’re thankful for all he has done here.

‘At the end of the day you make decisions, you choose one or the other one. We had to sell somebody.

‘And I overall believe today we are in a strong financial situation, as always, and we have a good enough squad to complete.’

‘That was the only thing that was really tough for me and the deliberation but Liverpool was the only option for me in terms of where I thought I would be playing.

‘The team and the feel of the whole football club in general just sat right with me.

‘I think there are really exciting things to come here and especially with this manager so I felt it was right for me to push to be a part of that

‘I’m delighted that I finally got the opportunity to.’
