Antoino Conte is confident deadline day signing Davide Zappacosta is ready to make an instant impact at Chelsea.

The Italy international joined the Premier League champions in a £24million deal from Torino after Antonio Conte missed out on his top targets to provide competition in the wing-back roles.

Chelsea failed with a £60m bid for Juventus’ Brazil international Alex Sandro, while Dani Alves and Danilo opted for moves to PSG and Manchester City.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain chose Liverpool over Chelsea upon deciding to leave Arsenal but Conte is sure Zappacosta will prove an effective signing.

‘Davide is a good player he is a young player he has a lot of space to improve, said Conte.

‘He made good runs during the game [for Italy] has good quality and is a wing-back. He prefers to play on the right but can play on the left – he is ready and very soon you will see.

‘For Davide this is a great chance you arrive in a great club it’s important to go into this club with the right mentality and it’s not easy to play for great club. Turin is a good team with great history in the past and I know there is pressure.

‘But to play in another country another type of football is not easy for him but he has the right characteristics to adapt very soon.’
