Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has explained that he and summer signing Romelu Lukaku have quickly developed a telepathic understanding on the pitch.

The 19-year-old forward has made a fine start to the 2017/18 campaign, despite playing more of a supporting role than when he started out in the Red Devils’ first-team.

With £75million new-boy Lukaku a clear automatic choice up front, Rashford has been forced to adapt his game and play out wide, but says he’s enjoying playing alongside the Belgian.

United’s attack has certainly gelled well so far this season with ten goals in the first three Premier League games, and Rashford has attempted to explain his instant understanding with Lukaku.

‘It’s just clicked, we’ve got that understanding,’ Rashford told MUTV.

‘We’d never met before his arrival, and we didn’t know what each other were like, but when we got on the pitch together we just knew where each other was.

‘Hopefully we can keep growing the relationship more and more. Obviously it’s only in the early stages, and the better we get at playing together, the better the results will be for the team.’

United had looked at signing big-name wide-players this summer after links with Antoine Griezmann and Ivan Perisic, but Rashford will be delighted to still be Jose Mourinho’s first choice in that area.

Lukaku was one of just three major signings by Mourinho this summer, along with midfielder Nemanja Matic and defender Victor Lindelof.
