Antonio Conte hailed Cesar Azpilicueta as one of the world’s best after another fine performance for Chelsea in their 6-0 win over Qarabag and labelled him as a coach’s ‘dream’.
The versatile Spaniard headed home the Blues’ third goal of the night in what was a comfortable win at Stamford Bridge, as he latched onto Cesc Fabregas’ intelligent cross with the outside of his boot.
His goal was sandwiched between strikes from Pedro, Davide Zappacosta, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Michy Batshuayi and it was generally another complete display from the 28-year-old.
And Conte was full of praise for the Spain international following another resolute performance at centre-back.
‘Last season Azpi was one of the most important players for us,’ Conte said.
‘I think in this position, as a centre back he is one of the best of the world. I think this about him. He is very good with the ball and without it.
‘He is a fantastic guy, he is always positive. In the training session he works in a fantastic way.
‘Azpi is a fantastic player, for a coach to have him is a dream.’
