Manchester United have completed the signing of Coventry City’s academy star Charlie McCann.

The 15-year-old midfielder, who has been with Coventry since the age of seven, will make the move to Old Trafford after a compensation fee was agreed between the two clubs.

McCann is considered as one of Coventry’s brightest academy prospects and was called up to England’s Under-16s squad earlier this summer.

‘When a big football club come knocking, and it is the club that Charlie supports, you must let him go and have that experience,’ Coventry City’s academy manager Richard Stevens told the club’s official website.

‘We did not want to sell him, we did not need a fee for him even though there was a fee involved.

‘Charlie goes with complete support from me and the rest of the staff from the academy.

‘He has been unbelievable for us, even making his England debut back in August.’
