Arsene Wenger confirmed that Danny Welbeck sustained a groin injury during Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea.

Welbeck started against Antonio Conte’s Premier League champions but was replaced by Olivier Giroud in the 73rd minute after going down in a heap on the Stamford Bridge turf.

Wenger claimed that Welbeck’s problem is ‘not an easy one’ but is unsure of the severity of the injury ahead of the Gunners’ EFL Cup tie with Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday night.

‘Danny Welbeck has a groin problem,’ the Frenchman told the media after the goalless draw.

‘I don’t know how serious it is.

‘It looks like a good groin problem, not an easy one.’

Arsenal face West Brom at the Emirates next weekend and Welbeck will be desperate to feature after six consectuve starts for the north London club.
