A bad few days for Wayne Rooney got even worse on Monday thanks to a two-year driving ban, 100 hours of community service and a truly awful court sketch.

The former England captain appeared at Stockport Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to drink driving.

It came after he was stopped driving a black Volkswagen Beetle in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in the early hours of September 1. The incident has since led to lurid reports about his private life.

The judge ordered the Everton striker be banned from driving for two years, given a 12-month community order and carry out 100 hours of unpaid work. It’s also understood his club plan to hit him with a fine of two weeks’ wages.

But on top of all that was a court sketch that was anything but flattering.

Some speculated whether it was actually a part of his punishment, while others felt it made him look like a neanderthal. Here’s the best of the reaction…
