Arsenal legend Martin Keown has given some advice to Alexis Sanchez after last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea, which the Chilean largely watched from the bench.
The 28-year-old forward was denied a transfer to Manchester City this summer, with Arsene Wenger repeatedly insisting he would not buckle on letting the contract rebel go.
Sanchez’s current deal expires at the end of the season and there is little sign he will agree to a renewal, which would allow him to quit the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer.
Arsenal, however, decided to keep him, with Wenger making it clear he expected the player to continue to give everything for the club while he’s still here.
Keown has now warned that Sanchez will have to up his game after Arsenal’s hard-working team display gained them a rare point away to Chelsea.
‘Sanchez is there now, whether he wanted to stay or not,’ the former Gunners defender told the Daily Mail.

‘He’s a special player. But he has to take note of what happened with the team against Chelsea.
‘The collective working together was so important. Sanchez would have sat on the bench and seen the team doing well without him. It’s a bit of a warning.’
Arsenal have so far eased Sanchez back into action in the Premier League after his late return from pre-season, though he started games in the Europa League and Carabao Cup in the last week.
