Michy Batshuayi has labelled Diego Costa ‘crazy’ in a farewell message to the Chelsea striker.

It was announced today that the Spain international will re-join Atletico Madrid when the January transfer window opens. The two clubs are understood to have agreed on a fee in the region of £53million.

It ends the long running saga over the striker’s future which became very public following a text from Antonio Conte. In it the Chelsea manager made clear Costa didn’t feature in his future plans.

Costa was incensed and refused to return to the club following his summer break and an exit was inevitable.

Now that a move away from Stamford Bridge has been agreed, Costa’s team-mate Batshuayi has taken the opportunity to send him a farewell message on Twitter.

In it the Belgian, who has a reputation for a lively social media output, called Costa ‘crazy’.

‘A great striker and always a support when I arrived at Chelsea,’ he wrote. ‘Thanks for everything Crazy Diego Costa and good luck for the future.’

Batshuayi will be in good spirits having scored his first hat-trick for Chelsea in last night’s 5-1 League Cup win over Nottingham Forest.
