Manchester United have been informed that they will need to spend £75 million in order to sign Lazio midfieler Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to reports.

The Sunday Express claims that Jose Mourinho has been impressed with his scout’s assessment of the 22-year-old.

But United will face strong competition from Manchester City, as Pep Guardiola is also closely monitoring the Serbian central midfielder.

The report claims that Mourinho is prepared to make Milinkovic-Savic a ‘leading target’ for his spending spree next summer.

Lazio are open to selling the player, but are aware of his rising value.

Earlier this week, former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman, who is now Milinkovic-Savic’s agent, confirmed the midfielder is attracting huge interest.

‘There’s been a lot of interest from several clubs, such as those in Madrid, Manchester and Milan,’ he told Radio CRC.

‘But he wants to be happy, to play to keep growing and become one of the best in his role.

It’s difficult to see him away from Lazio, where he has started the season very well, but I can’t rule out him leaving.’
