Thierry Henry has heaped praise on Alvaro Morata and says he was left virtually speechless by one the Chelsea summer signing’s goals against Stoke City on Saturday.

Morata bagged his first hat-trick for the Blues at the Britannia Stadium but one goal in particular impressed Premier League legend Henry.

After just a minute Morata latched onto a through ball from Cesar Azpilicueta and the former Real Madrid star breezed past Darren Fletcher before slotting a sublime finish past Jack Butland.

Talking on Monday Night Football, Henry was full of praise for Morata and said: ‘He was short of games at the beginning [of the season], but he’s on point at the minute, really impressive.

‘There was a thought process behind it [his opener at Stoke], I was at home and went “wow, what a goal”.’

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher also hailed Morata’s impact at Stamford Bridge and said the Spaniard reminds him of Fernando Torres.

‘Watching that, it reminded me of Torres, they’re a similar type of build and they both burst past people,’ the former England defender said.

‘He could have scored a 25-yarder, but when I see a finish like that I automatically think that’s top class, very few players can produce that skill.

‘That is better than scoring a worldie or an overhead kick – that’s top class.’
