Jose Mourinho was happy that he faced no further punishment for his sending off against Southampton after the FA confirmed no action would be taken.

The Manchester United boss was controversially sent to the stands by referee Craig Pawson after fourth official Mike Jones told him that Mourinho had encroached onto the pitch.

The decision was widely criticised in the aftermath of United’s 1-0 win over the Saints and the general consensus was Mourinho deserved to face no further action.

After he was cleared of any wrongdoing, Mourinho was glad his innocence was proven and he is looking forward to getting on with his job without fuss against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

‘If I am not punished it is because there were no reasons for the sending off,’ he said.

‘I am happy that was recognised and that I can be doing my work normally against Crystal Palace. That is enough for me.’

In the meantime, United face a tricky test against CSKA Moscow, who he believes will provide a stern test.
