Arsene Wenger has warned his young Arsenal stars that they must seize the opportunities they are given if they’re to become first-team regulars at the club.

The likes of Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles were handed starting berths against Bate Borisov but Wenger largely stuck with an experienced side.

Arsenal’s Europa League campaign means they have a clustered fixture list and the Gunners play three times in the next six days.

Opportunities are therefore available for some of Arsenal’s younger players but Wenger says there will not be unlimited chances for the players to prove their worth.

‘It’s a good test,’ said Wenger, referring to playing in the Europa League.

‘In life you don’t get 50 opportunities. When you look back at the players that make it usually they take the first opportunity.

‘It’s one for them all tonight.’
