Manchester United’s social media team certainly enjoyed today’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, giving the club a new nickname at full time.

Tweeting after another high-scoring performance this season, United’s official account dubbed the Red Devils ‘4-0 FC’ after their latest one-sided victory.

This is their fourth Premier League win of the season by this scoreline, with Jose Mourinho’s men also putting West Ham, Swansea City and Everton to the sword by the same margin.

United have also managed four goals in the League Cup and Champions League, beating both Burton and CSKA Moscow 4-1 this month.

Still, there’s no need to rename your whole club after a scoreline, with this proposed new nickname even amusing their own player Luke Shaw.

United will be glad to be putting on entertaining performances again after a difficult few years since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as manager back in 2013.

David Moyes succeeded the legendary Scot in the Old Trafford dugout, but didn’t even last the season after his disastrous tenure.

Louis van Gaal then took over but proved another unpopular choice in his two seasons in charge, with the Dutchman favouring a slow, possession-based game over the Reds’ traditional fast and attack-minded approach.

Mourinho took over last season and showed some signs of progress, though they failed to kill sides off as they finished just sixth in the league.

The summer signing of Romelu Lukaku, however, looks to have made all the difference as he matched club legend Andrew Cole by scoring his seventh goal in seven top flight matches this afternoon.
