Romelu Lukaku starts for Manchester United’s clash against Crystal Palace after a late injury scare.

ESPN had claimed that the Belgium international, who has scored nine goals in eight games this season, faced a late fitness test as he was carrying a knock ahead of the match at Old Trafford.

But the striker is fit enough to lead United’s line as Mourinho makes five changes from the side that started in the 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Marouane Fellaini missed United’s trip to Russia earlier this week but have made the starting XI at the expense of Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Daley Blind.

Juan Mata returns to United’s midfield as Ander Herrera drops to the bench.

And despite his performance against CKSA Moscow, Anthony Martial is only named as a substitute as Marcus Rashford is given a starting spot in attack.

Roy Hodgson, meanwhile, has made four changes to his Crystal Palace side which lost 5-0 to Manchester City last Saturday.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah is unable to play against his parent club as part of the conditions of his loan deal with United and is replaced by Joel Ward.

In central defence, Scott Dann is replaced by Damien Delaney, while in attack, injuries to Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Benteke allow starts for Jason Puncheon and Bakary Sako.
