Chelsea have booked a fresh scan for Alvaro Morata after concerns raised by the Spanish Football Federation.

Spain’s medical team revealed on Monday that they had found a grade two hamstring tear and that Morata could be out for over a month.

Morata hobbled off during the loss to Manchester City over the weekend and will play no part in Spain’s international fixtures in the next two weeks.

Chelsea were confident Morata would be fit by the time club football got back underway on October 14 against Crystal Palace.

However, Spain’s report on Morata’s injury has raised fresh concerns their star striker could be set for a lengthy lay-off.

Spain believe Morata will be out between four and six weeks, according to the Telegraph.

Other experts say Morata could face eight weeks out, but Chelsea have still not placed an official time frame on his comeback.

Should a fresh MRI scan reveal the same results in Cobham, it will be a massive blow to Chelsea.

Morata has quickly established himself as Antonio Conte’s No.1 striker with six goals in seven league appearances.

Conte admitted after the City game he took a massive risk playing Morata for the third time in seven days, but insisted he had no option but to play the frontman in such a big game.

Michy Batshuayi is the obvious replacement for Morata, but Conte had rarely turned to the young striker to lead Chelsea’s line.
