Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed he will not manage again this season as he targets a break from football.

The Italian was sensationally sacked by Bayern Munich last week just ten games into the new season, but on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

Speculation has suggested that Ancelotti wants to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal with the Frenchman under pressure to deliver this season at the Emirates or leave the club.

Wenger signed a two-year contract extension in the summer, but did accept he could walk away from the club should Arsenal finish outside the top four again.

Whatever happens at Arsenal, Ancelotti has decided he needs time off before re-entering management.

‘For the next ten months I will rest, I will not coach any team,’ he told Sky Italia.

Bayern sacked Ancelotti amid growing unrest among his players and the club five points behind Bundesliga leaders, Borussia Dortmund.

There have been reports of secret training sessions and complaining Bayern stars since Ancelotti was forced to leave the German giants.

But, when asked about his exit from Bayern, Ancelotti said very little: ‘It is better to keep silent.’

It has even been claimed moves against Ancelotti started last season despite Bayern winning the Bundesliga.

Arsenal fans would presumably be delighted to have Ancelotti replace Wenger with the 58-year-old building a hugely respected reputation.

Spells at Chelsea, Real Madrid and AC Milan all yielded major silverware with Ancelotti winning three Champions League trophies as a manager.
