Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette has revealed that Alexis Sanchez was one of the reasons he decided to move to the Emirates in the summer.

Lacazette, 26, has hit the ground running since his club-record £52million switch to north London, scoring four goals in his opening six Premier League appearances for the Gunners.

The Frenchman has only started two matches alongside Sanchez in Arsene Wenger’s starting XI but has heaped praise on his new team-mate.

Asked about the Chile international, Lacazette told Arsenal Player: ‘That’s also one of the reasons why I wanted to come to Arsenal – to play with players of [Alexis’] calibre.

‘Just seeing him in training, I like the way he plays and his mental attitude.’

Sanchez looked set for a £60m switch to Manchester City in the summer transfer window, but Arsenal pulled the plug on the move in the final hours of deadline day.

Lacazette hopes Sanchez will now stay for the foreseeable future, adding: ‘His approach makes me want to play alongside him – hopefully for many years.’

The France striker claims he is settling into life both on and of the pitch in north London.

‘I’m enjoying it. The Arsenal staff are excellent and they’ve helped me a lot,’ he said.

‘Also, the fact that there are quite a few French players in the club has made the transition much easier for me. On the pitch too, I feel a good connection with the fans, so overall I am very happy.
