Tottenham Hotspur are ready to ruin Chelsea’s plans to sign Ross Barkley in January by making a move for the England international.

The 23-year-old saw a deadline day move to Stamford Bridge fall through but he is still expected to leave Goodison Park when the transfer window reopens.

His current Everton deal expires at the end of the season and he is thought to have no intention of signing a new one.

Although a £35million move to Chelsea collapsed in the summer, Barkley remains firmly on Antonio Conte’s radar as he looks to strengthen his side to compete on all fronts.

But he faces serious competition from Spurs, according to the Telegraph.

Barkley is set to be available for just £20m in January due to the fact his contract will only have six months left at the beginning of 2018.

The England ace is not set to return to Ronald Koeman’s first XI before the transfer window opens again as he recovers from a hamstring problem.

But that hasn’t stopped both Mauricio Pochettino and Conte holding a firm interest in landing him.
